College of Foreign Languages (CFL) has a history of 60 years. Since its establishment, CFL had produced a large number of qualified professionals, making great contributions to the regional economic development and social progress. With its geographical superiority and distinct ethnic features, CFL is striving to cultivate more and more multilingual and interdisciplinary talents by integrating the East with the West. To meet the need of economic globalization, it will turn itself into a multilingual (Chinese, Korean, English, Japanese and Russian) training base, a multilingual and multicultural comparison and research base, a research base for Japanese studies, as well as a foreign language learning and research base for bilingual students by exploiting its bilingual (Korean and Chinese) advantages. CFL will endeavor to break new ground and make solid progress, so as to make it a new institute with qualified teachers, lively academic atmosphere, distinct disciplinary features, advanced teaching facilities and local characteristics. Following the road to sustainable and harmonious development, it also shoulders the responsibility for the revival of Yanbian’s ethnic Korean education. Meanwhile, CFL will go global. It will improve its teaching and academic research in order to build up an influential foreign language institute full of vigor and vitality. Thus, CFL can really play an active role in the economic construction, international exchange and social development of the country, as well as Jilin Province. Undoubtedly, a college with distinctive features will promote its internal development. We are convinced that CFL can strengthen its language teaching, open up wider to the outside world, and accelerate the building of a first-class foreign language institute.
