In 2007, the department was authorized to set up a Master’s program for Japanese Language and Literature, which has cultivated 55 graduates since then. The department now has a total enrollment of 39 graduates. Currently, the faculty consists of 19 members with 2 professors, 8 associate professors, and 9 lecturers. Among them, 8 teachers hold a Doctor Degree, 11 a Master Degree, 2 are doctoral candidates, and 9 are Master supervisors.
The department has adopted “3+1” talent training mode, so as to cultivate multilingual and multicultural versatile talents. After signing exchange student agreements with more than 10 colleges and universities in Japan, the department annually sends exchange students to Japan for 1 year. Until now 88 students have been sent to Japan. Besides, the department will adopt “3+0.5”and “2+2” talents training modes to offer students more opportunities for their overseas studies.
Its Institute of Japanese Studies has become an important platform for the department’s foreign academic exchange and cooperation with overseas institutions. Supported by the International Communication Foundation of Japan, the Window of Sino-Japanese Exchange has been established, which has made great contributions to Yanbian Prefecture’s Japanese education and Sino-Japanese communication.
